چکیده

Abstract Aim There is limited literature comparing differing techniques and equipment used in ulna shortening osteotomy. This study reviewed operative outcomes of osteotomies across one NHS Trust. Our aims were to compare two different techniques: dorsal-approach DCP plates versus volar-approach low profile evaluate the impact plate size on union rates. Method We performed a retrospective review all patients undergoing an osteotomy between 2016–2021 at North West Anglia Foundation patient demographics, surgical technique, size, complications, rates need for reoperation. Outcomes compared using Fisher's exact test. Results 32 identified. 21 had dorsally placed Stanley jig, 11 volar low-profile alternative systems. The majority 6 or 7 holes. One 5-hole was used, resulting only case non-union. Overall complication rate 41%. 38% with dorsal symptoms irritation post-operatively. 5 needed removals, which significantly greater than group (rate 0%, p = 0.03). no cases nerve damage CRPS group. Conclusions found that should be avoided led more requiring removal. Overall, improvements function pain scores acceptable comparable regardless technique used.

Ulna shortening osteotomy using a compression device.

PURPOSE To report the functional and radiographic outcomes of a cohort of patients treated for ulnar impaction syndrome with a single technique of ulnar shortening osteotomy. METHOD We performed ulnar shortening osteotomy on 18 consecutive patients over a 10-year period by using an oblique osteotomy and compression plating technique with an AO compression device (Synthes, Paoli, PA). There we...

Supracondylar Osteotomy in Valgus Knee: Angle Blade Plate Versus Locking Compression Plate

Background: There are few studies comparing the biomechanical properties of angled blade plate and locking compression plates in supracondylar osteotomy. In the current randomized study, we prospectively compared the clinical and radiological outcomes of supracondylar osteotomy using these two plates. Methods: Forty patients with valgus knee malalignment were randomly assigned to two equal nu...

Osteotomy of the Distal Radius Using a Fixed-angle Volar Plate.

OBJECTIVE Skewed consolidation of the distal radius, due to sequelae of fractures, may cause functional incapacity, thus leading such patients to present pain, loss of strength and diminished mobility. Based on the excellent results obtained from surgical treatment of unstable fractures of the distal radius through a volar approach and use of rigid fixation with a fixed-angle volar plate, we st...

Polyaxial versus uniaxial volar locking plate for distal radial fractures.

PURPOSE To compare the penetration of the distal screws in relation to the thickness of the distal metaphysis in the polyaxial versus uniaxial volar locking plates. METHODS Records of 78 patients aged 16 to 79 years who underwent open reduction and internal fixation for distal radial fractures (n=81) were reviewed. All fracture subtypes were included. 20 men and 22 women aged 18 to 79 (mean, ...
